Penn Center hosts exhibition by artist in residence Amiri Geuka Farris
The York W. Bailey Museum at Penn Center will host The Land in Us, an exhibition by Bluffton, SC interdisciplinary artist Amiri Geuka Farris, from January 6 to April 6, 2024. A public reception will be held at the Museum at 6 pm Saturday, February 24.
The exhibition will showcase new and existing works from Penn Center’s permanent collection by Farris, the 2023-24 artist in residence for Culture and Community at the Penn Center National Historic District. This exhibition explores the land and socio-cultural dimensions of Gullah Geechee culture, both past and present. These artworks capture the essence of this rich cultural heritage through captivating scenes, which bridge the gap between the history and future in a visually stunning way.
